Igala Agenda: Igala, Bassa Media Practitioners Organises Town Hall Meeting in Abuja

All is now set for the town hall meeting organized by the Association of Igala Media and Public Relations Practitioners for all Igala/Bassa sons and daughters in Abuja.

Coordinator of the association and practicing journalist with Daar Communications PLC, Jerry Ocheme in a statement said the event which is meant to discuss critical political issues concerning Kogi State, Igala/Bassa candidates and the proposition of Igala agenda for the November 16 governorship election will hold on Saturday 15 June, 2019 at Chida Hotel, Abuja.

According to the statement, a copy which was obtained by Kogi Reports, renowned Professor of Political Science and INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner for Niger state, Professor Sam Egwu will deliver the main paper as the Guest Speaker.

National Coordinator of the PDP Youth Frontier, Austin Okai, House of Representative candidate in 2019 general election for Ankpa, Olamaboro and Omala federal constituency, Austin Anibe and Halima Abubakar, a public affairs analyst  are some of discussants who have accepted to speak at the event.

Others expected to make interventions are the chief of staff to Kogi state governor, Chief Edward Onoja, coordinator of the G-9, Comrade Edime Amade and the Head of Department, Political Science at the Kogi State University, Dr. Usman Ogbo and the other discussants will make interventions.

Other participants expected at the event include governorship aspirants predominantly from Kogi East senatorial district, Igala Chiefs from Abuja and its environs, socio-cultural groups that are from Kogi East, pressure groups and women associations of Igala and Bassa extraction.

The proposition for Igala governor and an agenda for this proposition has been a heated debate on the social media in recent times with supporters and oppositions speaking for and against the idea.

The town hall meeting according to the organizers is to bring issues for deliberation beyond the social media, galvanize the elites and the Igala/Bassa people towards having not just a peaceful election, but having a candidate that transcends tribal, and religious sentiment.

The theme of the town hall meeting is:  “Kogi State and the Igala agenda concept: 28 years, how far, so far on development.”
