Idah will host the 2014 National U12, U15 boys and girls Handball championship from August 14-24 in Kogi State.
The 10-day age-grade Handball competition which is sponsored by Dr Musa Major’s led Idah Local Government Council, has promised to stage a hitch-free Handball competition.
Speaking ahead of the competition, the state Director of Sports, Alhaji Hadi Opotu backed Idah to organize a fair, free and competitive championship this year.
Oputu who expressed readiness of Kogi athletes to do the state proud in Idah, declared that the lads are prepared to defend and improve tally of the medals they won last year in Isanlu.
It will be recalled that Idah last hosted the championship in 2009, with the state winning most of the gold medals in U15 boys and girls, U12 girls.
It would also be recalled that the 2013 edition of the national championship that was held in Isanlu, Yagba-East Local Government Area in March 13-23.
Hosts, Kogi emerged champions in the U15 boys and girls, won bronze medals in U12 boys and girls, while Sokoto and Kwara clinched the gold medals respectively.
