The member representing Idah Federal constituency, Hon David Idris Zacharias and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have closed their cases before the Election Tribunal holding in Wuse, Abuja on Tuesday 2nd July 2019.
The case was filed by the immediate past member representing Idah Federal constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Egwu who is challenging the eligibility of Zacharias at the 2019 National Assembly Election.
The matter was earlier adjourned from Monday 1st July, 2019 to Tuesday 2nd July 2019 all witness.
At resumed hearing on Tuesday, legal representative of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) requested for an adjournment through oral application to enable its lawyers attend the case as they were prosecuting other election cases in other Tribunals in parts of the country.
Earlier, the Respondents, David Zacaharias and the All Progressives Congress, APC closed their responses to the petition as hearing was expected to commence on the matter.
Emmanuel Egwu had earlier filed a petition against Zacharrias on the ground that he is not qualified to contest the election.
The matter has been adjourned to Friday, 5th July, 2019.
The case is coming on the day Zacaharias will be resuming officially for his first legislative assignment at the House of Representatives.
Speaking with him. David Zacaharias, the lawmaker expressed hopes in the Tribunal to do justice to the matter. He noted that the case was meant to distract him, adding that the petitioner had no case to present.
He assured the people of his constituency of his continued efforts to deliver on the goods as he begins legislative business.
