Ibaji: Kogi Govt Inaugurates Panel on Iyano Communal Clashes

Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has inaugurated a 13-man panel of inquiry on the Iyano community clashes in Ibaji local government area of the state, with a view to proffering solution to the lingering crisis.

Daily Trust recalled that communal clashes at Iyano Ibaji on May 24, 2015 led to the destruction of Aluaja community with dozens rendered homeless.

Bello, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mrs. Ayoade Folashade Arike, said the move became imperative in order to restore peace amongst the warring communities of Iru, Itali, Aluaja, Echule and Abujaga of Ibaji.
Terms of reference of the panel includes  to determine the immediate and remote causes of the crises and examine all outstanding issues.
The panel is chaired by the SSG and has special adviser to the governor on local government and chieftains affairs and the state security adviser among others, as members.
The panel has commenced its sitting with representatives of Aluaja community testifying.
