House of Reps Swears-in PDP Candidate 19 Days After Court Sacked APC’s Wambai

The House of Representatives has sworn-in the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Kogi/Lokoja, Shaba Ibrahim, 19 days after the Court of Appeal sacked the former occupier of the seat and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdulkarim Wambai.

Ibrahim took the oath office on Wednesday, November 13, during the plenary session presided over by Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila.

A motion on the urgent need for the governing board of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to be properly constituted in line with the Act governing the commission. The motion was moved by Rep. Ossai Ossai and seconded by Rep. Victor Akinjo.

The motion was referred to the House committee on NDDC to report back to the House within one week.

It would be recalled that the appeal court nullified the election of Wambai who represented Kogi/Lokoja federal constituency and declared Ibrahim the authentic winner of the election.
