The governorship candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the November 16 Kogi governorship election, Barr Natasha Akpoti has bemoaned the current economic challenges bedeviling the state.

Akpoti made this known when she and her running mate, Engr Khalid Adams paid the Ohimege Koton Karfe homage in his palace on Wednesday.

The governorship hopeful said as a mother she is pained by the poor living condition of the people of Kogi state.

She stated that there are numerous opportunities waiting to be tapped to reposition the state as the industrial hub of Nigeria.

Akpoti, who lamented the lack of leadership and vision to turn the fortunes of the state around, said she will ensure a seaport is established in the state capital, Lokoja.

In his response, the Ohimege of Koton-Karfe, HRH Alhaji Abdulrazaq Isa Koto said Natasha has demonstrated her love for the people of Kogi State through her Ajaokuta steel revival advocacy.

The monarch announced to his visitors that the kingdom of Koton-Karfe has large deposits of iron ore waiting to be tapped and put into use.

At the campaign rally in Koton Karfe, Akpoti assured supporters that her administration will priotise the people’s welfare, security, job opportunities for the aged, teeming youth and lay a foundational development for the future generation to build upon.

From Koton Karfe, Natasha Akpoti and her running mate, Engr Khalid Adams moved to Lokoja in continuation of their electioneering campaigns.

In Lokoja, Akpoti charged the electorate to come out without fear and exercise their franchise.

“You have an opportunity to choose the best leaders that will steer the ship of the state for the nest four years on November 16, don’t sell your votes,” she said.
