NASU Confers Top Performer Award on Principal of OSS, Adabara Abduljelil, Lauds His Giant Strides in Education

The Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) has conferred a ‘Top Performance Award’ on the Principal of Okene Secondary School (OSS) Okene, Mr. Umar Adabara Abdul Jelil, in recognition of his strides in the education, specifically the revival of oldest and revered secondary school in Okene.

The award was presented at the NASU 2024 Annual Confluence, which was held at Power Equipment and Electrical Development Institution (PEEMADI), Okene Office.

The award was presented by the HRH. Engr Yakubu Sule Otu, who hailed the principal’s strides in the education sector, particularly in repositioning Okene Secondary School and pioneering an innovative model to tackle poverty by introducing skill acquisition on chalk making training for the students.

In response, Comrade Adabara thanked everyone who played part in the award, and said “the honor isn’t just mine; it belongs to all who stood by me, especially my admirer, mentor and well known philanthropist, Engr Yisah Yakubu Adajah, and others that has made the school to come alive again.

“In OSS, we have ensured that learning and skill Acquisition are key priorities. This is because we believe that the power and vision of the human can drive change and work for the advancement of society.

“With the introduction of skill Acquisition at Okene Secondary School OSS programme, we are focused on achieving success. Evidence from the programme has already shown that our children learn more in a school term than they used to in the old system.”
