A House of Representatives aspirant, Hon. Shehu Kadri Tijani has donated two solar-powered boreholes to Ganaja village and Nyamanyama community in Ajaokuta local government area of Kogi State.
Speaking while receiving the facilities, the community members thanked Hon. Shehu for providing a solution to water problem in the community.
They said several communities in the area were in need of potable water. They called on private organisations and wealthy individuals to complement government efforts in improving peoples lives.
He assured the donor that the communities would ensure responsible use of the water facility for maximum benefit to the people of the area.
In his speech at the occasion, Hon. Shehu stated the he is concerned about the perennial water scarcity which made life difficult for the inhabitants of the area, asking the community to make proper use of the borehole to enable it attain its life span.
The people certainly need clean water as some of the existing water sources were destroyed and contaminated. The facility handed over to the community consist of a solar powered borehole, three overhead tanks each of 3000 litre capacity, a guard’s room and five water outlets.
