House of Reps Aspirant, Blessing Ekele Honoured With Highest Title in Yakanajie Kingdom

The highly respected Uke Fulani Yakanajie kingdom in Nassarawa state has conferred their revered and highest traditional chieftaincy title of the land, Magajia, meant for women folks on Hon. Blessing Aisha Ekele(BAE), an All Progressive Congress (APC) woman leader of Olamaboro Local government in Kogi state.
In an elaborate coronation ceremony in Uke town penultimate Sunday, His Royal Majesty (HRM) Alhaji Ahmed A. Hassan of the Fulani cattle rearers settlements called Yakanajie kingdom extolled the virtues of Hon. Blessing Aishat Ekele (BAE) particularly over her service to humanity, and bestowed on her the title of Magajia1 of Yakanajie Uke kingdom.
HRM Hassan noted with enthusiasm and said history is being made in the land, stressing  that the conferrement of this very important chieftaincy title for women folks on Hon. Ekele symbolizes that the land hold a high premium on women,  as such, the coronation remains a turning point in the history of Yakanajie Kingdom.
The Royal Majesty who said the founding fathers of the kingdom would quakes in their graves because of the coronation of Blessing Aisha Ekele(BAE)  as Magajia 1 of the land maintained that since the demise of late Hajia Aishatu Mohammadu jnr, the pioneer Magajia Fulbe Uke in 1974,  no one else was appointed in that capacity until the emergence of Her Majesty, Hon.Ekele  as Magajia 1 of Yakanajie Magajian Uke kingdom.
He stated that Uke town was founded 1808 by the detachment of Fulani cattle Rearers called  Yakanajie, adding that the detachment was headed by an Islamic scholar called Mohammadu Tuni, the great,  along side with his
 brother, Mohammadu Tuni jnr  who were the flag bearers of Othman Dan Fodio, the head of the great Islamic Jihad of 1804.
Shedding more light on the Yakanajie kingdom,  he said  the Uke Fulani migrated from the northern emirates of Getso Town from present Gwarzo local Government of Kano state and  proceded to the North Central region of the country to settle (in what is today known as Nasarawa state) and later found the present Uke Yakanajie kingdom.
The Royal Father added that since the formation of Yakanajie Uke kingdom, it has produced 21 traditional Rulers, including HRM Alhaji Ahmed A. Hassan as the first graded chief of the kingdom with the staff of office
Reliving the history of the last coronation exercise of Magajia of the kingdom,  His Royal Highness  said that Magajia fulb died in 1974 and her twin brother was crowned the district head same day she died, emphasising  that since then, the seat has been vacant untill last Sunday when Hon.  Blessing Aisha Ekele was crowned in that capacity.
The present Emir of Yakanajie of Uke,  Alhaji Ahmed A. Hassan, who is the direct son of late Abdullahi Hassan Tafidan Keffi expressed that history has repeated itself in the kingdom, saying, at exactly “12.45pm last Sunday, Hon. Blessing Aisha Ekele was coronated,  the same period  late Magajia Fulbe Uke was Crowned on the same Sunday at exactly 2-0pm,  along side with her brother, late Abdullahi Hassan who was Crowned as the District head of Uke and ( Tafidan keffi) in  the year 1974.
In her remarks,  Hon. Ekele,  a frontline politician who is aspiring to represent Ankpa/Omalla/Olamaboro Federal Constituency in Kogi state in the next dispensation thanked God for enabling her to be a good ambassador of her family, tribe and state (Kogi).
While thanking  the Emir of Yakanajie kingdom, Alhaji Ahmed A. Hassan, his subjects and Nasarawa state for the honour, by noticing his little good deeds and contributions  to the kingdom, and the state generally,  Hon. BAE said the chieftaincy title bestowed on her has made her to fulfil her destiny in life.
“I want to urge youths and the girl- child to always be good ambassador wherever they find themselves. They should believe in themselves and always think of how to contribute positively to the people around them,” she said.
She assured the people of the Ankpa/Olamaboro/Omalla constituency that she will bring her experience,  connection and exposure to bear and translate it to development in the constituency, if given the mandate to represent them at the green chamber next year.
