Member representing Okene I state constituency, Hon. Lawi AT Ahmed, on Saturday urged the Federal Emergency Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to fix bad portions of the Lokoja-Okene and Okene-Auchi Expressway.
Lawi, during a chat with newsmen in Abuja, pointed out that the roads need urgent attention from FERMA.
The lawmaker stated that motorists face hard time on these roads and urgent palliative measures are needed to address the problem.
“Some portions of road around Zariagi and Oguda in Okene need serious attention. Also, there is need for urgent intervention on several portions along  Osara – Okene axis.
“The agency has tried in the past and I want to commend them for that and also urge them to come to the aid of my people by providing palliatives on Zariagi, Osara, Itakpe, Ogaminana, Okene and Oguda down to Auchi expressway.
“I want to appeal to FERMA, the State government and the Federal Ministry of Works to be up and doing in the cause of maintaining and fixing roads across the state because the rain is already destroying those roads, ” he said.
The lawmaker also called on the Federal Government to fix the Okene-Ajaokuta road, saying it had been neglected for years by previous administrations.
“Road is one of the major problem we have in Ebiraland and the state as a whole. It is so bad to the extent that motorists now find it difficult to ply these roads.
“The major roads that pass through Okene 1 state constituency are federal roads, starting from total filling station in Okene which serves as major road between so many states of the nation.
“If all those roads are taken care of, it will boost the economy of the state and the nation. It will also bring in so many investors to those areas,’’ he added.
