For anyone in Idah, Ibaji, Igalamela and ofu political cycle, be it a novice or intendant, the name Hon. Haruna Idoko Musa is indeed and verifiably a compound phenomenon. Whereas politicians are naturally dynamic; the young, ebullient, compassionate, vissionary and idealistic Haruna Idoko Musa has refused to be dynamic. Instead, he chose flexibility to events, time and condition as it shall be to the overall interest of the masses.
Unarguably, the year 2015/2016 posed the true test of who and what this lawmaker is by virtue of the circumstances which surrounded his election, court cases and re-election. Lo! At the tail end, he triumphed and this triumph made the people to know him better than anyone would have ever imagined.
Of course, politics is in ideal terms not a faith and even if it is, the only constant thing in faith is God as both religion and doctrine changes with time. It is perhaps based on this premise that he, Hon. Musa did the unimaginable at the most critical time of his political career.
Most critical time of his political career because he had a case in court, was anticipating a rerun election and in dire need of resuscitation following the death of Prince Abubakar Audu. Yet, he sacrificed all this for a cause he truly believed in and even though that the cause is not a story for today, the end of it was joy.
It was a great philosopher who said – “to know the true character of a man, give him power” and so, HIM they came to know. Although that he had embarked on a number of constituency development among which was education scholarships, building of lock up shops, youths/women empowerment etc between 2011-2015 during the Kogi state fifth assembly which he was a member. Upon taking oath of office for a second term legislator in 2016, Hon Haruna Idoko Musa rejuvenated like the eruption of a volcano.
This eruption is in such a way and manner that can be likened to the semblance of a king’s incarnation in his own progeny.
Taking cognizance of the level of litigation he has passed through to secure his return, many people had concluded that the former Idah local government chief executive turned lawmaker is on for a recovery tenure but in reality, reverse is the case today. More than ever before, Hon Musa’s grassroots network has become so deepened that he will be the first to be seen at condolence places, the first public servant to distribute occasion welfare packages, the first to arrive home for season and the last to depart Idah after festivities. And that is not all, he has ventured into human and infrastructural developments.
Testimonies has revealed that he without beneficiaries request purchased and distributed three new cars to three different individuals whose effects are not negligible in the processes of his long walk to a second term at the Kogi state house of assembly. Away from that which can be regarded as rewarding good with good, Hon Musa approved with very close supervision self sponsored scholarship for students of Idah origin having financial distress in high institutions of learning across the state in addition to a donation of tyres worth over five million naira( as estimated at six hundred pieces) to taxi drivers in Idah local government.
The provision of social amenities is not left out as the people of Igala-Ogba, Owoli-Apa, and Êdê shall not forget soon how he solved the problem of portable water via the construction of one motorised borehole at each of these wards for the benefit of the host communities.
While I’m very much aware of a recent plan by this positively poised honorable to do more for the people he represents, I say may the good works of his hand bear him witness in future political dispensation should he wants to recontest, go higher or seek any consolidation. It is not just enough to do good, it’s necessary for goods to be preserved and I pray his colossal beneficiaries will know and preserve his goodness… Amen!
