The Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for the Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency in the 2027 general election, Hon. Prince Gowon Enenche (G1), has concluded a week of intensive political and community engagements, receiving public commendation from Monday Yusuf while strengthening his grassroots support across the constituency.
The week began with Enenche announcing that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had officially acknowledged and confirmed his candidacy, describing the development as a significant milestone in his bid to represent the people of Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Expressing appreciation to his supporters, Enenche said the confirmation had reinforced his commitment to providing purposeful, accountable and people-centred representation.
“I am deeply humbled by your overwhelming solidarity, your prayers and your unyielding trust. Let us march forward together. Our journey toward effective, purposeful and people-oriented representation is unstoppable. This movement is for the people and with the people,” Enenche said.
Beyond political engagements, Enenche also demonstrated his commitment to community development by flagging off the total reconstruction and modernization of the Angwa-Ógébé Primary Healthcare Centre in Ankpa, Kogi State.
According to him, the project is aimed at providing quality healthcare services for residents, particularly women, children and the elderly, with construction already underway as workers and building materials have been mobilised to the site.
“For me, leadership is not about the promises we make for tomorrow; it is about the tangible actions we take today to uplift our people.
“I am incredibly pleased to announce that we have officially flagged off the total reconstruction and modernization of the Angwa-Ógébé Primary Healthcare Centre in Ankpa. Our workers and the necessary materials are already on-site, and work is commencing with immediate effect. We are not just patching up walls—we are rebuilding this facility from the ground up to meet ultramodern standards, ensuring our mothers, children and elders have access to the quality medical care they deserve.
“Politics will come and go, but the health, dignity and well-being of the good people of Ankpa Local Government Area must always come first. This intervention comes straight from the heart. It is born out of sheer compassion and a deep desire to see our communities thrive.
“As we look toward the future of the Ankpa Federal Constituency, the Igala Nation and Kogi State at large, I will continue to dedicate my resources, my network and my energy to building a stronger, healthier and more prosperous society for us all. Let us build this future together,” Enenche stated.
As part of his grassroots engagements, Enenche visited Obakume in Omala Local Government Area, where he paid his last respects to the late Mr. Sunday Yusufu and sympathised with the bereaved family.
During the visit, he interacted with community members, many of whom voiced concerns over years of underdevelopment and expressed their desire for a new direction in the constituency. Enenche said the discussions further underscored the need for responsive leadership that places the welfare of the people first.
The SDP candidate also visited the Ankpa Timber Shed, where he met with members of the Timber Marketers Association, Ankpa Chapter, to discuss ways of promoting local commerce and advancing community development.
“We are engaging our people directly, not only to seek their support but also to understand their needs and make them our priorities. Leadership begins by listening to the people,” he stated.
In another engagement, Enenche accompanied the SDP candidate for Kogi East Senatorial District, Hon. Idris HK, to the palace of the Ejeh of Ankpa for the flag-off of the Ankpa Electrification Project, which he described as a major initiative capable of stimulating economic activities and improving the living conditions of residents.
He also visited Olla in Omala Local Government Area to inspect the Olla Central Mosque following an appeal by members of the Muslim community for renovation support.
Reflecting on the visit, Enenche said he was inspired by the resilience, unity and optimism displayed by the people despite what he described as years of neglect.
“What I witnessed in Olla was more than a site inspection. I saw hope, resilience and genuine love from people who have long felt abandoned. By the grace of Almighty Allah, we will not disappoint them. Their trust will be rewarded with action,” he pledged.
Meanwhile, Monday Yusuf, speaking on behalf of the family of the late Mr. Sunday Yusufu, expressed profound appreciation to Hon. Prince Gowon Enenche and members of his entourage for their condolence visit and financial support during the burial.

Your kindness and compassion brought us comfort during our moment of grief. We pray that Almighty God grants you long life, good health, greater strength, divine wisdom and continued success in all your endeavours,” Monday Yusuf said.
