The National Student body under the umbrella of NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF OKUN STUDENTS (NAOS) use this medium to express our deep concern on the spate of killings and maiming of innocent citizens at various communities in Kogi State perpetrated by the Fulani herdsmen.
It sad to read on prints and social media daily how farmlands are being destroyed and nothing has been done to curb this menace.
Our attention has been as well drawn to reports on cases of rape on young girls and women whom are overpowered by these heartless Fulani Herdsmen.
In view of all these ugly occurrences we have seen and read through various medium, we hereby urge our Royal Fathers, Spiritual Leaders and Chiefs to orientate the citizens the ESSENCE OF VIGILANCE.
This call is necessary to prevent this kind of ugly occurrence from visiting our land as such has been a serious threat to the lives and properties of the people in some other parts of the State.
Your Highness and Spiritual Fathers, as you are aware that these evil nomads are moving from one settlement to the other to sojourn, we implore you to meet with citizens, land owners and instruct them not to admit any of them as tenants.
Your highnesses and our Spiritual Leaders, the need to educate the youths in land that security is everybody’s business is highly crucial in this critical period. Spiritual Leaders should educate the faithfuls the need to need for them to be their brother’s keeper and report any issue of suspicion to the appropriate authorities.
Lastly, we urge our Royal Fathers and the Chiefs to work hand in hand with Security outfits to prevent any evil attack. Strange and Suspicious faces and movements should be reported to security agents immediately.
We also urge security agents in Okun Land to be proactive as they discharge their daily activities.
Together we shall make Okun Land a better and a safe place to live for us all.
Evil will not visit our land. Amen.
Yours in Struggle,
Comrade Ajagun Opeyemi Samuel (Okun Boy)
