It was nerve racking for me to believe the gruesome pictures of carnage allegedly carried out by Fulani herdsmen in two local government areas of Kogi state. The vivid Images I woke up to see today got me clothed with morbid fear of possible Benue situation while hoping for a likely disclaimer of the “rumour”.
Perplexedly, the sad rumour became real and it went viral. While I commend the state government for the quick response that led to the deployment of security personnel to forestall further possible needless and wicked killings, I think it is time for Kogi state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to review and possibly reverse his stance on cattle colony because this can be said to be early signs for one to predict that the consequences of this said colony will not yield any positive result as it rather already project  possible dangers.
Security operatives and all stake holders must quickly set up mustering strength mechanism to nip this dastardly trend in the board. It is important to stress that while the right of every citizen to live in any part of the country is well established in our constitution, such freedom does not include taking the life of original owners of land under whatever guise.
Furthermore, the perpetrators of these heinous act must be brought to face the full wrath of the law. Cattle breeding is a private enterprise like any other and must be seen and handled as such. The life of a cow is not and can never be more important than that of a human being.
