Unspecified number of passengers have been kidnapped by some suspected kidnappers along Itobe-Anyigba road, Kogi State.

It was reliably gathered that the incident happened on Wednesday around 3 pm on the highway, as hoodlums said to be more than 10 in number struck and carried away abducted passengers in two different buses to an unknown destination in the area.

An eye witness reported that no vehicle was able to move on the busy highway on Wednesday until men of the Nigerian Army appeared on the scene and cleared the road.

Confirming the incident, Kogi state police command said a combined team of security agents and local hunters trailed the kidnappers and rescued two abducted passengers.

The Police Public Relation Officer, SP William Aya, said five people were reported to have been abducted in a car along the route on Wednesday.

He called on members of the public to report any person seen with gun injury to the nearest police station, saying, many of the kidnappers left with various wound due to the exchange of gun fire with the rescue team.
