Guber Poll: Don’t Allow Politicians Use Your Children for Thuggery, CTA Tells Kogi Women

The Transparency Advocacy (CTA) has warned Kogi women to caution their children against being used for thuggery and ballot box snatching during the November 16 governorship election in the state.

CTA also called on all stakeholders to shun all negative vices that can hinder a hitch free election.

The Executive Director of CTA, Faith Nwadishi, made this call on Wednesday during a stakeholders meeting held at Lokoja, the state capital.

The stakeholders meeting themed, “Towards credible November 16th 2019 Kogi Elections; the role of stakeholders in Kogi State, is one of the activities put in place by CTA to contribute to a free, fair, violence-free and credible election.

During her speech, the CTA boss highlighted a few challenges characterized by previous elections held in the state. She stressed that the “previous elections in the State have been characterized by violence, vote buying and in many cases, disruption of the voting process.”

Nwadishi, however, expressed hope that “going away from this stakeholders meeting, we will be firm in our resolve to ensure that the November 16th elections are conducted in an atmosphere of peace and zero tension, with no outbreak of violence and disruptions of the electoral process leading up to the collation and announcement of results by INEC.” 

On his part, the Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC in Kogi State, Professor James Apam, described Kogi as the second Bayelsa.

He expressed fear that violence may erupt, giving that king of tension in the state.

He however promised to deliver a free, fair and credible elections on November 16.
