Groups Back Doctor Yahaya Oniwon for Okene II House of Assembly Seat

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, a coalition political pressure groups in Okene II state constituency has thrown their support for the candidate of Accord Party, Dr. Yahaya Oniwon Ibrahim.

The groups stated this during its door-to-door campaign in Okene II of Kogi State.

They said their support for Dr. Yahaya Oniwon became imperative because of experience that would be of immense benefit to his constituency.

Speaking during the meeting by the coalition political pressure groups, the Chairman of the group, Comrade Ahmed Aminu expressed optimism that Dr. Yahaya’s membership of the Kogi State House of Assembly would ensure dividend of democracy for the people of Okene II Constituency of the state.

The groups head equally appealed to the state governor, Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello to consider the Dr. Yahaya option as part of New Direction Agenda, as he remains a candidate that is most qualified for the position, saying the candidate deserved more than his support.

“We have observed with keen interest, the dynamics of the race as it has attracted numerous candidate. While conceding to all such candidates their right to contest, it has become very timely that we give our support to vibrant, eloquent and diligent candidate like Hon. Dr. Yahaya Oniwon Ibrahim for Okene II House of Assembly come February 2nd, 2019.

“It is only when we have this clear understanding and chooses right person that there can be a better society devoid of needless suspicion but dividend of democracy. This indeed is a new approach to our age-long desire of unity and love in the Okene II constituency,” he said.

Comrade Ahmed Aminu Oto said Dr. Yahaya has the experience, exposure and acceptability to win the election, adding that the groups would soon meet with other stakeholders from the constituency to negotiate with other candidates from Okene II.

“Dr. Yahaya has gone through different stages of leadership and this makes him stand out among many other aspirants who have indicated interest to vie for the Okene II House of Assembly seat,” he said.

The groups described Dr. Yahaya as being compassionate to the plight of the youths through his scholarship and bursary awards to the indigent students without discrimination, free medical treatment and donation of wheelchairs to disable community.

“This is a man with good intentions as displayed in both his social and political activities which today attracted youths from diverse background across all the communities in the four wards constituted Okene II.

“His antecedents, achievements in politics and in medical sectors, impactful contributions towards the development of Okene II were the unparalleled indices that kept Dr. Yahaya ahead of other candidates. He has proven to be upright and capable to serve his people as a man of noble character. We are sure he will provide good and quality representation and will deliver all his electoral promises.”
