A group, Dekina-Bassa Renaissance for Positive Development (DBRPD) has taken a swipe at the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over the emergence of Hon. Paul Gowon (IJN ) as the party’s House of Representatives candidate for Dekina/Bassa federal constituency.
In a statement signed and made available to press men by the President of the association, Mr Mudi Ibrahim, on Monday, the group expressed concerns over the health status of Gowon.
Mudi described the emergence of Gowon as insensitive and callous.
He argued that “the business of the legislation is such a challenging one that requires intelligence, smartness and mental alertness”, adding that Hon Gowon who has been battling with prolonged health challenges since 2014 should not be a candidate that will square up with the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The group said the decision of APC to field ailing Gowon is not fair to the people of Dekina-Bassa federal constituency and party loyalists.
They called on the APC to look inwards and change its decision, while advising Hon. Paul Gowon to reject the party’s offer and concentrate on taking good care of himself, stressing that “health is wealth”.
