Kogi Youths Renaissance, a socio-political group in Kogi State has asked Table Shakers Association of Nigeria (TSAN) not to make itself willing tools in the hands of dubious politicians.
The group made the call following a “curious call” for the resignation of Kogi State Commissioner for Transport, Alhaji Awwal Mohammed.
Spokesman of the group, Tunde Usman Samson, said the group made futile attempts to bring the achievements of Governor Yahaya Bello in the transport sector to disrepute.
Condemning the report credited to TSAN, the group described Awwal as a meticulous politician and administrator who has built an enviable record of service.
The group described TSAN as a faceless association that is being used for dirty politicking by mischievous characters. He said their plans to tarnish the image of Mohammed Awwal is dead on arrival.
Hon Mohammed Awwal, according to the group, remains a man with good credit and achievements as Commissioner in the Information, Culture and Transport Ministries and wondered why people will want to take delight in maligning his hard earned reputation just to score political point.
The group commended the laudable efforts of Awwal to reposition the state Ministry of Transport since his assumption of office. It described Tuesday’s efforts by the state government to give out about 30 luxurious buses as a commendable feat achieved under Hon. Awwal.
The government efforts, the group maintained, will not only lower prices of transportation in the state, the students and youths population in the state will be the end beneficiaries of the policies.
They commended Hon. Awwal for maintaining sanity in the Kogi State Transport Sector, especially in maintaining a stable transport policy in the state. They urged the mischief makers who are scared of the rising profile of the Commissioner for Transport to look for better ventures.
“Until his assumption, the state ministry of transport had little to show but today, we make bold to say that a transport law for the state will soon be enacted. His efforts to toll roads in Kogi state remains laudable as it will improve the revenue base of the state through the commercialization of the state VIO office.
“Other unique efforts made so far by Awwal is the initiation of a plan for modernised water transportation in Kogi State. He deserves accolades,” he said.
The group commended Gov. Yahaya Bello for his efforts at creating peace and stability in motor parks and for sustained peaceful relationship it has created with NURTW in the state.
