Govt is Committed to Meeting the Expectations of Kogites – Wada

The present administration in Kogi State says it is committed to meeting the expectations of the people in all spheres of life.

Capt. Idris Wada, the Kogi State Governor, stated this while declaring open a sensitization and familiarization workshop for Senior Special Assistants at the weekend.

The Governor explained that the administration will strive to provide development projects that will uplift the living standard of the people.

The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi called on the SSA’s to key into the transformation agenda in key sectors of Agriculture, Education and Health which are areas of priority by the present administration.

The workshop the Governor noted was designed to explain to the SSA’s the workings and policies of government, appealed to them to assist in making those policies known to people of the State.

The Governor urged the SSA’s to embrace the core values of transparency, accountability, rule of law and fairness, which is the bastion on which his administration rest,urged them to remain unwavering in the discharge of their duties.

While urging the SSA’s to perform to the expectations of the people, called on them to justify their appointment and shun negative sentiments in the discharge of their duties.

Wada noted that the SSA’s have been selected from a rich pool of intelligent and qualified Kogites, said the workshop is basically aimed at assisting them to deliver in the onerous task of providing democracy dividends to the people.

In his presentation, Prof. Olugbemiro Jegede, Secretary to the State Government, said the rich human capital potentials the State is blessed with, ought to ordinarily make the transformation agenda of Capt. Idris Wada an easy success but said because of the different background and challenges of the new appointees environment, the need for the workshop. Prof Jegede called for a change of attitude from the SSA’s as panacea to achieving the State Government’s objectives for appointing them.

Also speaking the State Head of Service, Dr. Moses Atakpa, called for mutual co-operation between the SSA’s and their parent Ministry, adding that unity of purpose and oneness between the SSA’s and bureaucrats will assist in achieving the objectives of the present administrations public policy, which he noted will in a short time place the State as one of the country’s developed economy.

Several SSA’s at the workshop, commended the initiative of the State Government, adding that the workshop has position them to assist government in better service delivery.
