In a resounding demonstration of grassroots human capital development and alignment with Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s vision for shared prosperity, the Special Adviser to the Governor on State Capital Development and former Chairman of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, Hon. Amb. Nathaniel Ojo Taiwo, has empowered over 130 women across the six political wards of Bunu district in Kabba/Bunu LGA. Each beneficiary received a direct financial grant of ₦20,000 alongside high-quality wrapper textiles.

The mega empowerment programme, held at his private residence in Okebukun, saw beneficiaries receive direct financial assistance and quality fabrics designed to boost their small-scale businesses and provide immediate socio-economic relief to rural households.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony, Hon. Nathaniel Taiwo emphasized that the gesture was a direct extension of the Governor Ododo administration’s commitment to lifting citizens out of poverty and ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach the grassroots.

“What we are doing today is not just an empowerment; it is a deliberate investment in the dignity and economic resilience of our people,” Hon. Taiwo stated. “The Governor has set a clear mandate for us to prioritize the welfare of the people. By providing these cash grants, we are injecting immediate liquidity into local small businesses, and by gifting these wrappers, we are restoring a sense of pride and celebration to our women as they go about their daily lives.”

The grand event, which attracted prominent community leaders, party stalwarts, and various market women associations, was filled with joy and celebration.

Delivering remarks at the occasion, the Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, commended Hon. Nathaniel Ojo Taiwo for his unwavering dedication to the welfare of his people. He assured the gathering that additional human capital interventions would be rolled out by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo in the coming weeks, while urging the populace to remain supportive of state government programmes.

Similarly, the Kogi State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), alongside Hon. Alfred Bello, commended the Special Adviser for giving back to his constituency. They appealed to the beneficiaries and the wider community to reciprocate the gesture by coming out en masse to vote massively for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in upcoming general elections.

Expressing deep gratitude on behalf of the recipients, one of the beneficiaries noted that the financial support came at a crucial time to save her struggling business from collapsing. She remarked that while many politicians only visit during campaign cycles, Hon. Nathaniel Ojo Taiwo has proven that the current administration cares genuinely about their daily survival, adding that the cash injection would expand their trades while the wrappers made them feel valued.

Community stakeholders noted that the initiative marks another milestone in the Special Adviser’s ongoing drive to foster community engagement, alleviate grassroots poverty, and solidify popular support for the transformational agenda of the Kogi State Government.
