Former Kogi Perm Secs Drag Gov. Bello to Court Over Premature Retirement

Retired Permanent Secretaries in Kogi State, who where recently sent parking from the civil service, have dragged Governor Yahaya Bello to Industrial Arbitration Court, newly established in Lokoja, for disengaging them prematurely from service.
The Permanent Secretaries numbering about thirty want the court to declare the action of Governor Bello as null and void.
The case which has been fixed for mentioning in the early part of January, 2018 is to amongst other prayers seek to reinstate them into the service. They claimed that Gov Bello’s action breached the rules of engagement of the service as regards retirement.
The court has ordered that the state government be served through the office of the Attorney General of the state and to show cause why the prayers of the petitioners should not be granted expressly.
As at time of going to press, efforts to get the reaction of the Attorney General proved abortive as he could not be reached.
The former permanent secretaries are however optimistic that justice will prevail on the matter.
Disclosing through their spokesperson, the retired permanent secretaries vowed that Gov Bello’s bastardization of the civil service has come to an end with their premature retirement for what they described as for no just cause.
