As nomination form for the vacant seat of the state Football Association (FA) closes on January 20th, no less than five eligible candidates have indicated their interest to run for the position.

Sources close to Graphicsports reveal that the incumbent chairman, whose mandate expired recently, is also interested in returning while the other four aspirants except one are stakeholders in the state football circle and are resident in the state.

The list, our source reveal, include Chief Peter Oguche a sports philanthropist, a retired referee and the chair

Man of Oguche Babe’s football club as well as, a former House of Assembly member Alhaji Mustapha Alladey who served as the Assembly Chairman, Committee on sports and a retired referee.

Also listed among the aspirants, is a top official of the Lokoja FC football club who we gathered, may not go far because of his present official assignment.

We also gathered from the grapevine that a group from the eastern part of the state is sponsoring a candidate based in Abuja to vie for the position.

Though activities in various camps of each of the candidate have been kept secret and away from the press, it is however gathered that a lot of horse-trading, alignments, realignments and lobbying have characterised the activities of those vying the for the chairmanship position.

As at the time of going to press, it is difficult to predict where the pendulum may finally swing as all the aspirant s seem very desirous to be elected and are leaving no stone unturned in their quest.

It is equally difficult to predict if there is any one ready to step down for the other.

Efforts to get the secretary in charge of arrangements towards the election Mr. Augustine Ogunmola to shed more light on the on goings or the latest on the election proved abortive.
