The flood currently ravaging some parts of North Central of Nigeria assumed a frightening dimension on the early hours of Thursday morning when a part of the Lokoja-Abuja (NATACO) highway was overtaken by flood.
The Hakimi of Sarkin Noma confirmed to this reporter that the section of the road at NATACO and several houses were flooded this morning causing a lot of damages to properties worth millions of Naira.
Eye witness reports say hundreds of cars, commercial buses and trucks travelling along the road stood still causing traffic congestion. The flood which was reported to have started since earlier hours of today got worse as at noon.
When this reporter visited the the scene this morning, the flood incident had slowed down vehicular movement while officers of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) were seen  controlling the vehicular movement.
The flood submerged some houses, shops, transformers and other Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) installations in the area thus throwing some part of the town into darkness.
The administrator of Lokoja local government area, Hon. Shiru Lawal, who visited the flooded area earlier today, appealed to Federal Government to expedite actions on the completion of Lokoja-Abuja highway, especially the Sarkin Noma bridge.
He sympathised with the victims of the incident and assured them that the state government under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello, in conjunction with the Lokoja local government will look into the plights of the affected victims.
He called on residents who where residing along flood prone areas to evacuate to avoid loss of lives and properties.
