Firm to Build $1.2bn Fertilizer Plant in Kogi

HOMAG International Merchant Nigeria Limited will build a fertilizer plant worth $1.2 billion in Kogi State, Daily Trust gathered.

 

Representative of the firm, Mr Adedayo Adeogi, who led a delegation to the state yesterday, said the organisation seeks support of the Kogi government for success of the project.

 

He said the project, which is to be executed on the basis of Build, Operate, Transfer (BOT) and maintain, will have the capacity of producing 400 tonnes of fertilizer per day.

 

Adeogi said the choice of Kogi for the project stems from its confidence in the agricultural potentials of the state, adding that the fertilizer plant would provide 215 direct jobs, 1,200 support services personnel and create over 4,000 jobs during its plants construction, installation and pre-commissioning.

 

Responding, Kogi State Governor Idris Wada said government is ready to partner individuals and groups who are willing to contribute to the development of the state.

 

Wada, who was represented by his deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, said the present administration has signed over 42 memorandum of understanding within the past three years.

 

He said his regime has instilled confidence in the minds of investors, having put in place mechanism that allows for quick return on investments.

 

Wada commended the investors for finding the state worthy for the project and assured them of safety.
