A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued an injunction preventing the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions from proceeding with disciplinary actions against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Judge Obiora Egwuatu gave the order on Tuesday following an ex parte application filed by counsels to Akpoti-Uduaghan, the senator representing Kogi Central.
Akpoti-Uduaghan had been invited to appear before the senate’s disciplinary committee following an altercation with Senate President Godswill Akpabio on February 20.
As a result, the Senate referred the matter to the Ethics Committee for review. The decision was made during a plenary session, following the adoption of Adaramodu’s report.
Senate President Akpabio directed the committee to investigate the incident and report back to the Senate.
