Ex-Kogi Speaker Promotes Computer Education in His Constituency

Towards the upliftment of education in his Okene II state constituency, the former Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Momohjimoh Lawal has made a cash donation of N1 million to support the building of a hall that will serve as a computer training centre in Abuga-Okengwe.
The former speaker made the donation last week at the fund raising ceremony for the project organized by Abuga Youths Forum.
In his speech, the former speaker, Rt. Hon. Momohjimoh Lawal who was the chairman of the fund raising ceremony, disclosed his earlier donation of set of computers to the centre, as well as a donation of 2 blocks of six classrooms to Lennon Memorial College Ageva-Okengwe.
While also announcing the donation of N250,000 by Kogi State House of Assembly in support of the project, he appealed to other well meaning members of the community to contribute to the project.
Earlier in his address, the president of Abuga Youths Forum, Comrade Abdulraheem Yusuf Jatto disclosed that the program was geared towards raising the literacy level of youths of the area in-order to make them self employed and employers of labour.
He said that when completed, the project will serve as a credible computer centre for the University Tertiary and Matriculation Examination (UTME) centre that is lacking in the area.
The forum president who disclosed that the program has successfully impacted on the lives of 150 participants, expressed appreciation to highly spirited individuals like Rt. Hon. Momohjimoh Lawal and Hon. Tijani Damisa, for their contributions to the success of the project.
The fund raising ceremony for the computer centre also featured a lecture titled “Computer Literacy: A Panacea for self reliance and Economic Prosperity”, delivered by Prof. Muhammed Audu.
