A former acting governor of Kogi State, Asiwaju Clarence Olafemi has re-united with the Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the November 22 2015 election in Kogi state, Honourable James Faleke.
Kogireports authoritatively report that this political alliance was consummated at a meeting between Faleke and Olafemi in Abuja yesterday.
It will be recalled that the crisis that engulfed Kogi APC after the demise of Prince Abubakar Audu saw Faleke and Olafemi parting ways. While Faleke pursued his case against the nomination of Alhaji Yahaya Bello to replace Late Audu as governorship candidate of APC in the courts, Olafemi teamed up with Senator Dino Melaye and Yahaya Bello.
According to a reliable source at the meeting, Olafemi is disenchanted with the political styles of both Dino and Yahaya and has decided to forge alliance with Faleke for the benefit of Kogi people. The source hinted that a remorseful Olafemi told Faleke that he has had no peace since he betrayed him.
At the residence of Hon Faleke, Hon Clarance said he has come to seek for forgiveness for the role he played during and after the nomination of candidate to replace prince Audu after his sudden death.
Our source hinted further that Olafemi told Faleke that Dino Melaye misled him in the heat of the crisis.
“I know you trusted me as a brother and elder but I betrayed you. I was misled by Dino Melaye who told me he has already settled with you. I have to seek for forgiveness from you and Okun people because I don’t want to do anything that will hurt my children in the future. My first son is 41 years old, what will be his judgement when gets to hear that I was misled by someone who is about the same age with him”, Olafemi said.
Another source close to the Asiwaju of Okunland revealed that Yahaya Bello and his men did not accord Olafemi the respect he deserves. “They monitor him everywhere he goes. On the other hand, Dino has also been insulting him because he has failed to join him in his recent attacks on Gov Bello but as I speak, Asiwaju has made up his mind to fight and die for the interest of Okun people henceforth. He feels he can best achieve this the sincere group of politicians in the state being led by Faleke”
Faleke, in his response, reportedly said it is unfortunate that things happened the way it did. Quoting Faleke, our source reported that he said; “We expect you as the Asiwaju of Okun land to be at the forefront of the struggle while we follow you.  I wondered why you abandoned your own people when we needed you so much”.
Faleke said he had since moved on and has forgiven Olafemi. He stated that he is ready for forgive Gov. Bello if he seek for forgiveness as long as it is going to further unite Kogi people.
“As for Dino, he has only deceived you for the second time. I have not met with Dino anywhere to discuss issues pertaining to reconciliation. I think it’s important I set the record straight.
The reconciliatory move between Faleke and Olafemi was reportedly facilitated by Alhaji Ipinmisho, Hon. Ganiyu Salawudeen (Erukutu Yagba), Chief Dare Olatunde (the Maiyegun of Isanlu) and a veteran journalist, Mr Kehinde Asalu.
