Team Manager of Kogi United FC, Ameh Henry has described the just concluded Nigeria National League, NNL season as perfect for his side even as he called on league organizers to improve its standard.
Henry who disclosed this shortly after his side’s 0-1 defeat to Spotlight FC in Katsina on Saturday noted that ending the season which was tagged “repositioning and restructuring” in the top half of Group A table was encouraging.
He admitted Kogi United’s promotion miss but promised that the management would redouble its effort to gain promotion in their next try.
“We thank God for what we’ve done this season, it was a wonderful one for all of us in Kogi United, though it would have been better if we gained promotion,” begins Henry.
“For a club that went into such overhauling after what happened last season, I will say its a successful season, our performance here (in Katsina) showed we are a better side, I would have love it more if we pick a point here to wrap the season up, but we thank God for what we achieved.
“We will work on our area of weaknesses with fresh ambition of coming out stronger when the new season begins.
“I think NNL has improved this season especially in administration and information to clubs, but the board need to raise its bar especially the quality of the branded balls we used this season, the standard has to improve, it is second tier league in the country so we need a top class standard,” concludes the former Wikki Tourists attacker.
Kogi United were able to amassed 46 points after winning 15 games, drew one and lost 14 to place 7th in the just concluded season.
