Four weeks after a lawmaker announced that materials for the rehabilitation of the Oja Egbe road in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State were ready, local youths have taken action to address the worsening condition of the route.

Reports indicate that youths from Egbe Mekun, working in collaboration with the Yagba West 2 House of Assembly candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Toyosi Akure, have mobilised to carry out emergency repairs on the road, which has been heavily affected by erosion and washouts.

According to information gathered, the ongoing efforts are currently focused around the 2nd ECWA Church junction, opposite Opeyemi Pharmacy, where workers are actively filling damaged sections to restore basic accessibility.

The community-led intervention highlights growing concern among residents over the pace of formal rehabilitation efforts, as well as a rising trend of local self-help initiatives in response to infrastructure decay.

As work continues on the affected stretch, residents are watching closely, hoping the intervention will bring lasting relief to a road that remains vital for daily movement and local economic activity.
