The Ebira Mountaineering Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to showcasing and harnessing the tourism potentials of Ebiraland, has announced date for the third edition of its annual mountaineering event.
This year’s event, tagged “Governor Ododo Edition,” will take place on December 30, 2024.
The event, which has been expanded to include a marathon race, aims to empower young people through adventure and sport. Participants will compete in a hiking contest and marathon race, with a cash prize of 2 million naira up for grabs.
Registration for the contest is absolutely free.
The marathon race will cover a distance of 13km, starting from Obo-Okehi in Ihima area of Okehi Local Government and finishing at Ataba Okoro in Enyinare area of Okene Local Government. Contestants will have the opportunity to run through the scenic routes of Ebiraland, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
Also, contestants (hikers) will also participate in a hiking contest, which will involve hiking the Ataba Okoro in Enyinare. The hiking contest will cover a distance of 1,500ft above sea level, offering contestants a challenging and exhilarating experience.
The organizers of the Ebira Mountaineering Project dedicated this year’s event to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, in recognition of his numerous achievements since assuming office as the incumbent governor of Kogi State.
