Dr. Arome Salifu Visit Victims of Herdsmen Attacks in Oganenigu, Omala Communities

The road was long, rough and tortuous. But the people were waiting, and so retreating  wasn’t an option. Though, night and darkness threatened amidst, the security threats in the environs (even without security in our entourage) but we had to move on.
The above summarizes the harrowing experience of a visit by Dr. Arome Salifu and his team to the victims of herdsmen attack in both Oganenigu and Omala in Kogi east on 2nd April, 2018.
In Oganenigu, Dr. Arome met with some victims and community leaders who expressed deep appreciation to him for finding time to visit an support them.
The spokesman of the community narrated how it all happened and also informed the entourage that there is still palpable fear in the community of fresh attack. For this reason, members of the community are unable to visit their farms to obtain food. While commending Dr. Arome for his support thus far, the spokesperson called for more support to alleviate their pains. Apart from the visit and offering of financial support,  Dr.  Arome had previously contributed when Project Save Kogi called for financial and material support for the victims.
Responding,  Dr. Arome assured the community of his constant support. He maintained that whatever affects a single soul in Kogi state affects all, and so he will never rest on his oars in efforts to bring lasting peace to Kogi state, and particularly the affected areas. A video was shot immediately, sending a message to both President Muhammad Buhari and Governor Yahaya Bello to do more to assist the community.
From Oganenigu, the team proceeded to Omala where they arrived at about 7:00pm and met with Onuh (chief) of Ife in his palace. There Dr. Arome equally assured of his continued support and made a token cash donation to support the victims.
Responding,  the Onuh of Ife thanked Dr. Arome for finding time to visit despite the night fall. He called on other sons and daughters of Kogi east to emulate Dr. Arome.
The entourage left Omala that night for Anyigba.
