Kogi-born scholar, Dr. Aminu Musa Audu, has been honoured with the University of Liverpool Alumni Award 2023 in the United Kingdom.
Aminu, a researcher on police corruption and community policing in Nigeria, serves on the Board of Trustees of British Sociological Association and has received an award of honour from Merseyside Police for his commitment as a member of Merseyside Independent Advisory Group.
A statement by Dr. Sulaiman Usman, on behalf of the university, said the prestigious recognition is a testament to Aminu’s exceptional achievements and contributions in his field which demonstrated a major breakthrough.

Aminu’s PhD Thesis ‘Community Policing: Exploring the Police/Community Relationship for Crime Control in Nigeria’ demonstrated a major breakthrough in the sociological understanding of police corruption in Nigeria.
His book, based on the same theme, has had a positive impact on the ground in the Nigeria, leading to more than £26million worth of investments from the Nigerian Government. It was also recognised by the Danish Refugee Council who invested almost £5million in community safety in north east Nigeria.
Aminu has been recognised for his significant volunteering contribution, particularly in the City of Liverpool. He has twice been recognised the Mayor of Liverpool, and recently by Merseyside Police for sitting on the Independent Advisory Group.
