…Vows to protect their interest in the ongoing Social Intervention Programme
Member representing Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Shaba Ibrahim has distributed bags of rice to his constituents as palliative measures for the COVID-19 pandemic.
He urged them to ensure they stay at home while they observe the government preventive measures.
According to the statement released on Tuesday by his Media Aide, Issa Itopa Lucky, the Federal lawmaker appealed to the constituents not to panic as the government is doing all that is possible to fight the pandemic and that very soon, life will be able to come back to normal for all.
“I assure you that I will not relent in efforts to bring dividend of democracy to you. I promise to continually hold the Federal Government responsible and accountable for our welfare as a federal constituency.
“I promise you, I will represent your interest critically as the Social Intervention Programme (SIP) of the Federal Government continues,” he said in the statement.
Ibrahim had last week distributed hygiene items like buckets, soaps and sanitizers to several churches and mosques within his constituency while admonishing the people to observe social distancing and maintain good hygiene, which according to him is the only ‘vaccine’ available for the treatment of COVID-19 at the moment.
He urged them to cooperate with security agencies in this trying times while assuring that with their co-operation, COVID-19 will soon be defeated.
He observed with dissatisfaction, the level of compliance with the social distancing prescription thus far, noting that with the current rate of infection, staying safe in observance of prescribed measures is the only panacea to curb the spread of the deadly virus.
