The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has appealed to the residents and the people of Kogi state to display high level of compliance with the ‘stay at home’ order by the Kogi state government as part of measures to prevent the spread of corona virus pandemic.

This was contained in a statement signed by the  director of the agency, Ambassador Mohammed Othman Abdullahi, which was made available to newsmen in Lokoja, Tuesday.

The statement  said that NOA has  carried out intensive sensitisation on corona virus in the market places, motor parks, schools, worship centers, palaces and other strategic places in the 21 local government areas of the state with a view to create awareness against the scourge of the disease.

The NOA boss urged the people to always take the preventive measures which include avoiding handshake, kissing and hugging, public gathering and maintaining physical and social distance seriously.

He charged the people of the state to engage in regular hand washing or use alcohol based sanitiser to ensure personal and environmental hygiene.

He also emphasised that COVID-19 is not a big man sickness because the poor and the rich work together in the offices, and interact in public places.

Abdullahi noted that the partial lockdown and its enforcement was not a punitive measure but rather a proactive means by the Kogi state government of protecting Kogi people  from contracting COVID-19 , assuring that the government is considering other means of making life meaningful for all during this trying period.

He called on Kogites to consider coronavirus as a threat to human existence which has no cure yet and to step up preventive measures.
