The Igala Youth Council (IYC) has expressed dismay over the choice of Prof. Salawu Sadiku from Kogi Central as the new Vice Chancellor of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara.

In a press statement signed by the National President, Hon. Collins Onogu Monday and the National Secretary, Comrade Huseni Yahaya after an emergency meeting of the association in Lokoja, IYC said the choice is not healthy for ethnic unity in the state.

IYC pointed out that contrary to the earlier speculations that Gov. Bello is promoting unity among the ethnic groups of the state, the choice of an Ebira man as the VC of CUSTECH, even when another Ebira, Prof. Marietu Tenuche is VC of Kogi State University, Anyigba does not promote sense of belonging among ethnic groups in the state.

The association said there are qualified professors from the East and Western senatorial districts of the state that are fit for the job.

It called on all well meaning indigenes of the state who believe in ‘One Kogi’ to rise up to the occasion by urging the governor to respect the various ethnic groups in the state by ensuring an all inclusive government.
