The member-elect for Idah, Ibaji, Igalamela/Odolu and Ofu local governments at the House of Representatives, Hon. Idris David Zacharias, has assured children in his constituency that his tenure at the National Assembly would be used to make laws that will improve their education and provide social services with the aim of giving them a bright future in the constituency.

In a message to mark the 2019 Children’s Day made available to Journalist by his acting Director of Media and Corporate Communications, Zacharias said he will join other stakeholders within the state to ensure that they have a secured environment to develop their talents under an atmosphere of love, peace and hope across the state.

While wishing the children a happy Children’s Day, he assured them of his love and friendship at all times, adding that his office will put up a robust children’s day celebration next year when he must have assumed office to bring back the nostalgic experience of his days as a primary school pupil.

The Lawmaker-elect called on all children to shun all forms of social vices capable for truncating their future, charged them to take their academic  and vocational studies serious as well urged them to be obedient to their parents and respect constituted authorities  in their various communities.

“I urge you to be good ambassadors of your parents, shun vices and be of good behavior so that your parents will be proud of you”.

The statement reads: “I felicitate with the children of Idah Federal constituency on this auspicious occasion of Children’s Day celebration. Children’s Day is an event celebrated in many places across the world. The day is simply set to honour children and minors.

“I want to reassure our children that we remain fully committed to fulfilling our promise of a better and prosperous Idah Federal constituency through programmes that we shall be unveiling very soon”.

He called on religious, educational and private organizations to assist parents in the task of training up children, adding that the upbringing of children should not be left for parents alone because. According to him, when a child becomes irresponsible, the child will become a problem not just for the parents but for the society at large.

On the part of parents, the lawmaker-elect urged parents and guardians to uphold good moral values in their daily pursuits, this he said will reduce the propensity of social unrest and other vices.

The statement further added that parents should develop the habit of spending valuable time with their children, regardless of age, need and ensure that they receive proper guidance and counseling at all times.

“Children are integral part of the society and as such, they deserve to be acknowledged and celebrated today and always.

“They are the future of the world and it is high time we started integrating them into policies that will translate into sustainable development.

“We, as parents, must live by example so that our children can emulate us and sustain our good legacies.

“We must educate, guide, support and mentor children, both biological and foster, so that we can build a decent society. “It is only through good moral upbringing that a child can be valuable to himself/herself and the society at large.”

He wished them a spirit filled celebration and urged them to celebrate their day with strict obedience to the various laws in the society.
