Governor Yahaya Bello has vowed to deal with his men who hired a consultant to impose levies on each loaf of bread coming from Kogi state and has denied any knowledge of the recent development.

This is the same policy that the Commissioner for Information, Mr Kingsley Fanwo seriously defended yesterday saying it will encourage indigenous bread bakers and thereby creating more jobs.

Without doubt, Kogi is a floating state under the leadership of Alhaji Yahaya Bello as the governor of the state, who has a perpetual habit of leaving the state in the hands of his Chief of Staff.

I make bold to say that Bello’s denial is only borne out of the fact that the story has ignited bad press for him and has gone viral, creating so much embarrassment for him amongst his colleagues. And is only looking for who to blame.

It is imperative for a leader to stand up to bear the consequence of his action and inactions.

If truly he is unaware of this development then, it is a big shame. Which further confirms my initial stand that the state is on autopilot. Kogi State is floating to only God knows where direction. The governor, who is suppose to be number one citizen of the state, has abandoned the state for Abuja and is only interested in the state monthly allocations.

It is a big time disgrace that the state with abundant human and materials resources has lost its leadership. Kogi state has been swimming in the ocean of embarrassment since Yahaya Bello took over the leadership of the confluence state.

I call on Yahaya Bello to return to the state and assume his leadership position, instead of frolicking in Abuja, just driving expensive convoy of cars in and around the Federal Capital Territory.

The state is left ungoverned and each of his aides are taking decisions without direction and without his consent.

This clueless action of Bello’s men has put the state in a mess. Therefore, as a concerned citizen of the state and on behalf of the entire good people of Kogi state, I am calling on the All Progressive Congress (APC) to compel the Governor to return to the state.
