Bomb Scare in Lokoja, Banks, Shops Others Closed

The bomb scare in Lokoja has paralyzed commercial activities in the state capital. Banks, shops and filling stations closed hurriedly due to the security threat.

Contrary to widespread reports that there was a bomb explosion in a church Lokoja this morning, the Pastor of Revival House Church, Lokoja has refuted the reports.

The Pastor told newsmen that the remoured bomb material was a black polythene bag that which was discovered this morning in front of the church.

This morning, some minutes to 11 am, Lokoja residents heard a sound that seems like a bomb blast and it was followed by gun-shots from policemen who responded swiftly to the alert.The sound, obviously from anti-bomb defusing machines, sent jitters down residents spines as people scampered for safety.

Gunshots were heard around Ganaja Junction and Government House, Lokoja around 11am but security men took control.

There was tension around Lokongoma axis and both human and vehicular movements were paralysed.

Rumors started flying around Lokoja and even on the Internet. It was alleged that that there was a bomb blast in Lokoja  near Revival House Church, Phase 2 and shootings. Some reports claimed the explosion was at  the Harmony Nursey and Primary School at Genaja Junction.

Normalcy has since returned as residents and vehicles are moving around freely on the streets.
