The Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor on Legislative/Assembly Matters, Barr. Haruna Yusuf, has tackled Senator Dino Melaye (APC Kogi-West) and other senators over their recent donations of some bags of rice to state workers, urging them to stop blackmailing and painting the state in bad light.

Speaking at a news conference on Friday in Lokoja, he said it was worrisome that other senators were hoodwinked by the drama and wrong picture painted by Senator Melaye on the plights of workers in the state, thus donating 1,260 bags of rice.

“Now, I want the Senate and the public to know that it is all drama, well-rehearsed to bring Kogi State to public ridicule which is not possible because this administration is too focused to be distracted by a person who should have been a stakeholder of repute but has chosen to stage all sorts of drama at the Senate.

“Let all these political comedians stop their evil plot against the state as no one is really feeling their joke anymore, as funny”, he said.

He wondered why the Senate has not considered giving attention to the humanitarian situation in the North-East but rather focusing on Kogi State for the wrong reasons.

Yusuf argued that Senator Melaye has decided to remain in Abuja without coming home to know what was actually happening in the state, adding that some of the “political civil servants” he claimed to be speaking for were those who forged certificates and falsified their age but granted pardon by the governor in his magnanimity.

He described the recent committee set up by the House of Representatives to look into the issues of salaries in Kogi as uncalled for, adding that the Constitution has mandated the State Assembly to conduct oversight on such issues and that Kogi State is not an appendage of the House of Representatives.

Yusuf urged the National Assembly to leave Kogi alone and focus on many issues that require their oversight functions at the federal level.
