Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has vowed that he will not allow criminals a foothold in the state.
Reacting to Wednesday’s armed attack on commuters along the Lokoja-Abuja highway which led to the death of one Mr Nicholas Ofodile, a popular businessman in the state, as well as a young indigene of the state, vowed to bring perpetrators to book.
In a statement on Wednesday, Bello said the criminal elements who are trying to stage a come after the deadly blow done to them since he assumed power.
He condemned the attack and commiserated with the immediate family of the deceased and the entire Igbo community in the state over the sad incident.
The governor described late Nicholas Ofodile as a law-abiding successful entrepreneur who was known for his hard work and commitment.
Ofodile, owner of the popular Chuks Supermarket in Lokoja the Kogi state capital and were gunned down by unknown gunmen in the early hours of Wednesday along Lokoja-Abuja highway.
A luxurious bus owned by C.E.N Nigeria Limited was also attacked by the assailants who kidnapped many during the operation.
Confirming the incident, the public relations officer, Kogi State Police Command, DSP Williams Aya said two persons lost their lives, including a prominent business man in Kogi state, Mr Nicholas Ofodile.
He stated that the state commissioner of Police, CP Ayuba Ede has drafted some armed security men to the area.
