BEBM: How Hon. Adams Bakaso Made Lokoja Proud at Kogi Exhibitions

The Chairman of Kogi State Forestry and Produce, Alh. Adams Bakaso popularly known called Comrade Quincy by friends and admirers has made Lokoja Local Government proud at the just concluded 2022 Built Environment and Building Materials (BEBM) Exhibition. The event was a three day event attended by the critical stakeholders in the built environment both locally and nationally.

Comrade Quincy, outside his engagement with the government of Kogi state has been in the forefront of better life for Lokoja citizens.

His interest in the sanitation and beautification of Lokoja has received commendation.

Just like the historians would say, Comrade Quincy has again put Lokoja at the centre stage of discussion on issues of environmental management and service-oriented leadership. When mentioned that Comrade Quincy hails from Lokoja LGA most participants at the event were not surprised as it was argued that Lokoja pre and post-independence era has be known for self-help individual community services like that of Comrade Quincy.

On Tuesday, 6th December, 2022 Alh. Adams Bakaso was awarded alongside other promoters of best practice in the field of environment development was award the 2022 Kogi Built Environment Development Excellence Award. Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the Governor of Kogi State commended the Alh. Adams Bakaso and urged him to continue to serve Kogi state creditably and assured him of government support always.

Alhaji Yahaya Bello who was represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary, Kogi State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources used the opportunity to brief the participants on some critical built environment infrastructure executed by his administration. As if it was a presentation of his administration’s scorecard, the Governor listed these projects and citing its location in the three senatorial districts.

The 2022 Kogi Built Environment and Building Materials Exhibitions was eventful and thought provoking. The main resources persons were Dr. Yemi Opeyemi and Dr. Calistus Ayegba of Covenant University Ota and the Federal University of Technology Minna respectively.

The theme of the exhibition, Building Smart Environment Using Made in Nigeria Building Materials was exhaustively discussed from different dimensions.

The event which spans three days has lectures, trading for block moulders, ceramics Tilers, Awards and Recognitions and also an all session of expository discussion by the accredited exhibitors of displayed building Materials and its services.

It was a platform where professionals, distributors and investors in the building materials production market as well as other stakeholders in the building industry are brought together to share their experiences, knowledge on how the activities of the industry can be improved upon.

The BEBM Exhibition has mulled a partnership in 2022 to be known as Adams Bakaso-GYB Tree Planting Campaigns.

This a special project to be flagged off in May, 2022 to campaign for and plant One Thousand Trees in selected towns of Kogi state in eleven (11) LGAs at first instance. This initiative is aimed at the rejuvenation of our forest and boasting the economic life of rural inhabitants through the planting of economic trees.

The exhibition was brough to a close by a Special dinner organised for participants and professionals in the state. Highlights of the dinner ceremony was the unveiling of a new online platform, Building Materials Online Updates to promote conversation on Building Materials particularly the Made in Nigeria building material and products. In his remarks during the unveiling, the Bishop of Anglican Diocese of Lokoja, Most Revd. Emmanuel Sokowamju Egbunu commended the organizers of the event for their creativity and advised that the internet facility must be used to glorify God and also serve humanity. He also prayed for the sustenance of the initiative.
