Ayetoro-Gbede Marks 91st Founders’ Day

Arrangements have been concluded for the celebration of 91 years of existence of Ayetoro -Gbede town, Ijumu Local Government Area, Kogi State.
In a statement by the Chairman of Local Organising Committee, Mr. Samuel Aladuge and made available to journalists in Lokoja revealed that the week-long activities of the event include a symposium entitled “role of youths in conflict resolution, peace building and community development”.
According to him, other events line up for the event which is scheduled to hold from 3oth April to 7th May 2018 include inter-house school quiz competition amongst secondary schools in the town, football competition, free medical service and interdenominational Thanksgiving service which will be held at at St. Peter Anglican Church, Ayetoro -Gbede.
Mr Aladuge further revealed that the event would equally be used to mark the first anniversary of coronation of Olu of Gdede, His Royal Highness Oba David Ehindero. He stated that necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure the success of of the event and called on sons and daughters of the community to be fully involved to ensure the success of the the program.
Meanwhile, the National President of Ayetoro -Gdede Development Association (AGDA), Elder Olorunfemi Ezekiel Adekunle has called on sons and daughters of the town to see the growth and development of the community as a collective responsibility.
Elder Adekunle in a statement revealed that the Association has decided to focus on lifting of standard of schools in the town in order to ensure qualitative education and reiterated its commitment to reduce examination malpractice to the barest minimum in the area.
According to him, grading of access and ring roads and construction of culverts and drainages, resuscitation of moribund Cyber cafes, provision of immediate and urgent equipments for the General Hospital in the community would be his immediate priority and appealed to all to support his efforts in fast tracking the growth and development of the town.
