Nigerian political leaders at all tiers of government have been called upon to avoid policies that tend to unleash hardships and pains on the people.
The Committee of Friends Club of Kog East (COFC) made the appeal as they celebrated founding members of the club at Ejule in Ofu Local Government Area recently.
The club, in a communiqué, observed that the policy such as removal of oil subsidy has, no doubt, created hardships in all spheres of life as the prices of goods and services have gone beyond the reach of an average Nigerian.
The group advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to jettison paying subsidy on oil importation and subsidize only Dangote oil produced within the country, for the sake of entire Nigerians engulfed in hardships today.
The COFC President, Chief Ibrahim Ademu, the Agenyi Ata of Okpe town, urged members of the club to continue to work towards the unity and progress of the club, even as they are expected to support each other in times of hardships and bewilderment.
The occasion witnessed presentation of award of excellence to Comrade Mudi Okpanachi and post-humus award to two other founding late members.
Responding on the award, Comrade Mudi Okpanachi thanked all members for remaining dedicated to the spirit and cause of the club which has, indeed, strengthened friendship and brotherly ties among members across Kogi East Senatorial District.
The club which was founded in September 1992 with seven members has grown to over 40 members with Mudi Shaibu Okpanachi as the only surviving founding member, as others have either died or withdrawn their membership.
