While other contestants in the last governorship elections in Kogi State are taking deserved rest, the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) governorship candidate, Prince Abubakar Audu and the his estranged wife who was also a governorship contender in the last election, Chief Aisha Emeje, have shifted the battle ground from Kogi circles to the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland, USA.
It will be recalled that the duo were enmeshed in a dirty divorce case before the December 3 guber polls in Kogi state. In the ensuing drama, Prince Audu alleged that Aisha’s last baby was not fathered by him after a purported DNA test confirmed his fears.
The court has also granted request by the Prince Abubabar Audu that paternity test be conducted on the remaining two children of his estranged wife, Mrs. Aisha Audu.
The court which gave the order on November 23, 2011, however insisted that the genetic test on the children, Abubakar Audu Jr and Shazali should be conducted between thirty days after the entry of the order, after which the “written results of such blood tests will be supplied to the parties and the Court.”
It would be recalled that the former Kogi State first lady, Mrs. Aisha Audu, instituted a divorce case against her husband, Prince Abubakar Audu, former Kogi State governor . Aisha had before Judge Dennis Michael Mchugh accused the ex-governor of domestic violence, family abandonment in the United States, among others.
She had subsequently applied to the court for absolute divorce and payment of alimony, child support as well as, asked the court to give her absolute ownership of a property in America.
Aisha lost all grounds canvassed in the case but for that of child support which Audu had told the court that he doubted the paternity of the new born baby the woman is carrying, insisting that a DNA paternity test be conducted to determine the paternity of the baby.
It was a damning report as the result of the DNA conducted by the DNA Diagnostics Centre, based in United States of America, USA, showed that Aisha’s baby, Ramatu Naimaah Audu was not fathered by Prince Abubakar Audu.
