Atta Igala Performs Foundation Laying Ceremony of the Igala Unity House

The Atta Igala and Chairman, Kogi State Council Of Chiefs, His Royal Majesty Michael Idakwo Ameh Oboni II Wednesday performed the foundation laying ceremony for the Igala Unity House, Anyigba.
Speaking at the event, the Royal father congratulated Igala sons and daughters who initiated the project and said posterity would be kind to them for their vision and well-thought initiative designed to showcase the unity of Igala Nation.
The Atta used the occasion to call for stronger bond amongst ethnic groups in the state, stating,  “What this children of Igala race have done is a clear demonstration of pride, integrity, hardwork, courage, and determination that the Igala nation is known for. I am happy to be here to lay the foundation of the Igala Unity House.
“More-so, I thank all those who have played one role or the other in this project. We can only develop when we are united and show love to one another. I urge us all to be our brothers keepers, by so doing, Unity that will lead to development will exist amongst us.
The traditional ruler, who also thanked the leadership of the Igala Cultural Development Association, ICDA for its steadfastness and resolve towards ensuring the success of the project, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Of Staff to Kogi State Governor, Edward Onoja for his pivotal role which resulted in the realisation of the project.
On his part, the Chairman, Kogi State Chapter of Christian Association Of Nigeria, Bishop John Ibenu offered prayers before the foundation laying ceremony, noting that the idea of young men and women coming together to embark on such project was a sign that God’s purpose for Igala Nation would be accomplished.
“This ceremony we are witnessing today has spiritual significance; this is the first time in our history we’ve seen young men and women coming together to do something for the interest of all. God has not forgotten us and this is the sign that the Igala will be more united for the development of our nation.”
Speaking at the event, the Chief Of Staff  to Kogi State Governor, Mr Edward Onoja thanked the Atta Igala for his efforts in ensuring peace and development of Igala nation, stressing that the people are witnessing such progress because of the leadership quality of the traditional ruler.
Onoja noted that the completion of the Igala Unity House would mark the beginning of what Igala men and women could achieve when they are united.
Also speaking, the Chairman Of Igala Unity House fundraising Committee, Alh Jibrin Isah Echocho thanked the Royal Father and other dignitaries who contributed to its success for gracing the occasion.
He also singled out Edward Onoja for praise, in view of his distinguishing capacity as a worthy son of Igala land who never hesitated to contribute to any Igala project.
Others who spoke at the occasion include the president of Igala Cultural and Development Association, ICDA, Abubakar Sadiq and APC zonal Vice Chairman, Hon Ahmed Attah, who both praised the people for their contributions to develop Igala land.
Recall that, in Anyigba, early this month, the University City in the heart of Igala land, the jinx of disunity was broken four hundred years after by the Chief of Staff to the Kogi State Governor, Chief Edward Onoja and foremost Igala politician, Alhaji Jibrin Isah Echocho who used the strategy of brotherhood to bring Igala sons and daughters together with the purpose of solving the Igala nation’s unity question by raising the funds needed to build the Igala Unity House.
To start with, the hope of renovating the dilapidated Igala Unity House in Anyigba where they could converge to brainstorm on the development of the Igala Kingdom was raised by the people donated generously to ensure the completion of the project in earnest.
Thus, the fundraising committees, which chaired by Echocho, a former banker like the Kogi Chief of Staff, was able to realize over N80m for the project which was flagged off Wednesday, June 20.
