Basking in the euphoria of a historic re-election, the winner of Saturday KGHA to represent Ankpa I State Constituency, Hon. Ahmed Mohammed vowed, yesterday, to bequeath a legacy of good works across his constituency after he was declared winner.
The town erupted in jubilation as the popular Ankpa Township road was filled with joyful activities including cars, motorcycles and horse riding all celebrating as early as 7. 30 a.m. after INEC declared Hon. Ahmed Ahmed winner of the elections.
Some of the residents who expressed their joy are optimistic that the current Deputy Majority Leader would complete the developmental projects he started, describing his re-election as an “act of God”.
In the course of celebration, the lawmaker and his supporters paid a visit to the palace of Onu-Ankpa, HRH Alh. Abdulmalik Umar.
The monarch assured Hon. Ahmed of his support and prayers.
“We are happy. The re-election of Ahmed Ahmed is as an act of God and clear manifestation of the will of the majority. The next four years of this administration, will be for consolidation, youth empowerment, and I can assure you of our full support and prayers anytime,” he said.
Hon. Ahmed, in his brief remarks to his supporters and well wishers, assured them of quality representation and more focus on youth empowerment through skills acquisition.
The Administrator of Ankpa LGA, Hon. Chief John Aduga, in his reaction, said: “The people have spoken; the best candidate has won. While I congratulate my brother, Ahmed, on this victory, which is a reaffirmation of the belief of his people in him, I urge him to continue on the path of service to his people of his constituency.”
Other dignitaries who joined Hon. Ahmed Ahmed are; Alh. Ibrahim Linco Ocheje, Kogi East Elders advisory council chairman – APC, Hon. Ibrahim Abdullahi Halims – member elect for Ankpa/Olamaboro/Omala Fed const, Hajiya Rahi Haruna – Kogi State APC women leader, Hon. John Aduga – Aadministrator Ankpa LGA, Hon. Ibrahim Muhammed (Ayuba Nana), Hon. Audu Muhammed Haco – DG Campaign to Hon. Ahmed Mohammed, Hon. Alh. Isah Abdullahi, and so many others.
In the official result announced on Saturday night, Hon. Ahmed polled 13,504 votes, the highest number of votes in the election to defeat Hon. Ibrahim Abagwu – candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 3,692. Ahmed Ahmed won with a margin of 9,812 votes
