People of Ankpa I Constituency have urged their member representing the area in Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Mohammed to begin to focus on moving up to represent them from Ankpa/Omala/Olamaboro Federal constituency in the National Assembly come 2023.

It was gathered that the call became necessary as people of the area have expressed their satisfaction with the lawmaker over his modest achievements in the area since he became a member of Kogi State House of Assembly.

A cross section of the people from the area who spoke with newsmen said they had looked at the meagre resources that accrued to the lawmaker over the years, yet he has been able to deliver on his promises thus far, and for that reason, moving up to the House of Representatives of Hon. Ahmed will be a very big opportunity for the people of the area.

Speaking with our reporter, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Ahmed who also doubles as the Deputy Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, said most of the projects he had executed so far in Ankpa I Constituency since he became a member of the House of Assembly were people oriented projects and not politically motivated projects.

And that during this period thus far, he has been able to create succour for his people not necessarily waiting till when Government says, go and do borehole before he can do project for his people.

This he attributed it to the kind of leadership the people require at a time like this.

“So far, I have been able to establish sound community relations between me and my people in terms of provision of infrastructural facilities, skill acquisition and empowerment programmes, social amenities job creation programmes, welfare packages for both the elderly and the young ones.

“And very importantly, I have been with my constituents thinking of how the next generation of youths could be able to live a good life where we should be able to start planning of producing Doctors, Engineers and other professionals from their early beginnings with a projection of 10 years.

“We started this planning in the last two years and we are targeting that in the next 10 years, we should be able to produce Doctors, Engineers and skilled studies where students from Ankpa Federal Constituency will be able to fend for themselves because, as at today, everybody is just longing for white collar jobs because we do not have professionals.

“So, we are trying to make youths, professionals in their various endeavours fend for themselves and if we don’t have a focused leadership, we shall have problems in this area”.

“My leadership style have been people oriented. And people of my area have been saying that what I have been doing for the people, has been more of humanitarian service and leadership than just sitting down to make laws only”.

“These are the qualities my people have seen in me and have urged me to contest 2023 House of Representative election beginning from this year,” he said.
