The attention of stakeholders, party leaders, and loyal members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is hereby drawn to the urgent need for strategic and result-oriented decision-making as the party prepares for forthcoming elections in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area.

At this critical moment, the party must be guided by facts, performance, and electoral realities not sentiments, personal relationships, or pressure from interest groups. The success of APC in Kabba/Bunu has always depended on the strength of its grassroots structure and the proven capacity of its candidates to deliver results.

It is important to clearly state that performance not familiarity or connections must remain the yardstick for selecting candidates.

Elections are not won by popularity within political circles, but by the ability to mobilize voters and secure victories across polling units and wards.

Furthermore, experience has shown that zoning has never played a decisive role in winning elections in Kabba District. Prioritizing zoning above competence and proven electoral value would be a costly mistake capable of weakening the party’s chances at the polls.

The party must avoid the dangerous path of gambling its ticket on zones or individuals who have not demonstrated the capacity to win elections, while sidelining areas with a consistent record of delivering strong results. Such a move would amount to political suicide and could jeopardize the party’s future in the constituency.

We therefore call on the leadership of the party at the state level to take a critical and objective look at the various camps pushing for their preferred candidates.

Beyond political noise, a simple but crucial question must be asked: what are the verifiable unit and ward results of these aspirants and their structures in the last general elections, including the 2023 Governorship election?

This is the only credible basis for decision-making. Performance must unite the party and guide its choices not divide it or lead it into avoidable failure.

The future success of APC in Kabba/Bunu depends on making the right decisions today. Anything short of a performance-based approach risks undermining the party’s strength and handing victory to the opposition.
