Nigeria’s political space would be disinfected of corruption and other ills holding back her progress if President Muhammadu Buhari is given another opportunity to lead the country in 2019.

This was the submission of the Chief of Staff to Kogi State Governor, Hon Edward Onoja on Tuesday when he granted audience to the I Stand With Buhari group in Lokoja.

He said ‘standing with Buhari’ is a patriotic service to the country because many money bags that have benefitted from corruption and looting in the system are ready to fight against anything and anybody that supports the President, and urged the group to be ready to defend what they believe in.

Onoja stated that he had been standing with the President since 2007 before his organization, Kogi Youths Arise, which was used to carry out massive vote canvassing for Buihari, was given birth to.

The Chief of Staff noted that like his principal – the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has always said – supporting the policies and programmes of Buhari required steadfastness and commitment, and called on members of the group to get relevant information on the workings of the administration to be able to do their jobs effectively.

He urged the group to dig out information on how government has expended the country’s resources in rebuilding dilapidated infrastructure that have suffered bastardization in time past, saying it was only when they were adequately empowered with information that they could truly stand with the President.

On the requests put forward to Kogi State government by the leadership, he assured the I stand With Buhri group that he would present them before Governor Yahaya Bello, and urged members of the public to give the body requisite support to make their assignments a success.

Earlier, the secretary of the Kogi State Chapter of the group, Comrade Umar Mahmud had lauded the present administration for its efforts at giving the state a facelift through the provision of necessary infrastructure for its development.

He was particularly grateful to Governor Bello for equitably distributing the resources of the state, saying policies of the present administration in Kogi State have brought development to all rural areas of the state.

The Secretary, who is also the group’s coordinator for Kogi Local Government Area, applauded the roles of the state government in ensuring that adequate public power supply was made available to his LGA, stating that the measure, coupled with road constructions in some communities of the council, civil service reform, among others, were commendable.

The group was led on the visit by its Kogi State coordinator, Comrade Vally Ujah, sandwiched by the state’s 21 Local Government coordinators. They were received in company of the Director General, Research, Documentation and Speech Writing to Kogi State Governor, Hon Moses Okezie.
